SUIP! is a startling multi award-winning black comedy portraying the lives of a bergie ‘family’ living on the streets of Cape Town. What begins as an entertaining ‘street theatre’ endeavour to raise money for their next ‘dop’ (drink) develops into a humorous but penetrating journey into the culture and history of alcohol use and abuse in the Cape and South Africa.
Five performers and one musician tell this powerful story using dialogue, physical theatre, dance and song. The live soundtrack is composed almost entirely instruments found on the street.
WINNER OF 5 FLEUR DU CAP AWARDS and 4 FNB THEATRE AWARDS (1999-2000) Best Director, Best Production, Best Indigenous Script, Best Lighting, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor
